On heaven’s eternal shore

Sailing over life’s tumultuous waters

Riding on the oceans roar

Through roaring storms tearing my sails to tatters

I see in the distance a golden coast

On the coast stands a tall three cornered post

Coming to it I come ashore

Setting it on the sand I lay down my oar

I lie at rest after months at sea

Hearing my king I rise to one knee

I look up and at last see my king’s face

The king who was hung on that tree

To grant his servant pardoning trace

Turned what was tool of wrath

Into the symbol of the greatest love and compassion

He took me across an ocean’s depth

And in his loving hand I am fastened

Having persevered been brought before the savior

I am joined by many a wayward wanderer

Finding rest on that eternal shore

Servants pleasing to their master

Are now at rest from those labors evermore

Now finding rest on heaven’s eternal shore
